The Idea Of It

The Idea Of It

A Poem by Ally Elaine

The Idea of It

I thought I understood it
but I didn’t.
I only knew the idea of it.

I only knew what it was supposed to feel like,
how it was supposed to make your heart beat ten times too fast
and make you skin explode in goose bumps.
How butterflies were supposed to fly crazily in the pit of your stomach.

I thought I understood love,
but I don’t
I only know the idea of it.

oh, it's good to admit that we don't understand what real love is at first. we just have the idea---- could be the right or the wrong idea of love. this is a straight forward poem., nice write.:)

There is no 'one' way love is supposed to feel like. The goosebumps, the butterflies, all that is just infatuation. I think once in love, you will know. Completely and absolutely.

I like this poem. It's sincere and emotional. Very good.
