The man and the TreeA Poem by Chris BurnsInspired by a picture of a man using a mask to cyphon oxygen from a tree that is encased in a glass container, I write about the emotions and thoughts the picture sparked within me- ENJOY!!
When we've sucked the life out of every living thing,
Then will we begin to see? When we have used up all the breathable air because all the rest is so toxic Then will we see? When those who control the monetary system begin to realize that our natural resources are finite, When we kill and trample each other a day after we give thanks, THEN WILL WE SEE? when all the beautiful creatures that once roamed from rain forest to desert, teaching us how to live in unity and harmony with Mother Nature, when these creatures cease to exist because of mans greedy negligence and uncontrolled craving for power. When YOUR child is starving, ribs poking through their skin, bugs crawling out of their bed sheets that smell like feces because you have no clean water to wash with? Maybe when the color of our skin is ALL a greying blue because we all are decaying from the lack of nutrients we have stripped from the earth and ultimately ourselves, the color of our skin Finally matching in the face of #death, Maybe then we will see. In an attempt to gain all that their is, we have forgotten we ARE the all that is! Raping and burning, killing, lying, stealing, from those of our own Kin, crucifying the god within. We are diseased and unwell look at how we sell, each other out for material items that will be gone tomorrow, for a few likes on Facebook that only feed our inner sorrow. A melting pot, when will the melting stop, because this place is to hot for even a soul on fire, It's coming down to the wire, what world do #you desire. A change within is all it requires. Maybe then you will see that you are both the MAN AND THE TREE... Let's learn to love and live in #harmony 🙏🏿😉 © 2015 Chris BurnsAuthor's Note
