Lucy's ReturnA Story by AllusyenLucy returns to Haven (Denver, Colorado).
She hadn't wanted to come back here ever again. Infact only a month ago she swore she wouldn't come back here even if you paid her. People had threatened her life if she came back here... She'd promised. They could find her here... they were proabably watching right now...
She pulled the coat tighter around her, the shoulder-length newly-black hair blowing in the breeze freely behind her. At least she wasn't trying to attract attention - for a change, she was wearing black. Black shirt and pants, instead of the red dress she'd been known for. Gone was the blonde hair she'd sported for so long. Even in the dim light, she still wore her sunglasses. Taking them off would cause more people to notice, to remember her and that was unacceptable. Breaking into a bank was easier than this. 'God, please, dont let me bump into anyone who knows me... Let me be invisible for once in my life...' she prayed, hurrying down the street. It was far too hot to be wearing an ankle-length, long-sleeved coat, especially clutching it as she was. Anyone would think it was the middle of winter from looking at her. She glanced over her shoulder quickly, but couldn't tell if anyone was following her. -Fool! If they were, they know you're expecting someone to be! Ameteur!- 'shut up... please...' She begged the voice in her head, inwardly kicking herself for looking. As she did so, she glanced back again. Still no proof, no sign, except the paranoid voice in her head. As she turned back, her breath still caught in her throat, she bounced off something... or rather, Someone, and none too gentle either. She was sat on the floor before she could blink, the shades snapped next to her on the floor and her fedora on the other side. It was moments before she realised the glasses were gone, and a minute before she realised suddenly, the whole world knew she was blonde again - although where the wig had gotten to was a mystery in itself. "Damnit.." She swore under her breath, keeping her head down to hide the very black eye as she rearranged her hair to cover it. It was So Not her day today. © 2008 AllusyenAuthor's Note
