David

David

A Poem by Gah Yan
"

For David, a distant friend close to my heart

"

His demeanor is calm

Restrained, controlled

Cold

Snide, sardonic

Mocking the mores of

This painful world

This frigid world

His voice is that of a

Sewing machine

Humming and dragging

Piercing truth

It evades you

And draws you closer

Proceeds with caution

He is lines and edges

His straight, stiff stride

The break of his nose

The angles of his face

Make you wonder

Was he not crafted to be kind?

But you know

His eyes

Could freeze you

With one glance

Icy, penetrating

Biting

A hidden ocean in storm

Passion unseen

Behind a veil of tranquility

Who does he love?

Anybody?

Somebody.
