IdentityA Poem by AllieburgerAlways lost and never found.
After your eyelids part
for the first time, how long is it before you become a whole person? Discovering and accepting yourself are impossibly daunting tasks; painstakingly slow. Dragging your feet through each day doesn't really bring you any closer to an identity. With every lesson you learn, the more your bones begin to ache. You'll forever be waiting for that unimaginable promised epiphany, but your ears will fall deaf from repeated false affirmations, before you ever, find a sense of self. You will die your own mystery, and become erased from time.
