Mirage

Mirage

A Poem by Allieburger
"

It only lasted mere moments.

"

Seems to me

like a window may have opened;

not a door,

a window.

Doors provide opportunity.

Windows invite hope.

It’s far away,

but I think I can make it out.

It must be a window;

enticing faith

to come to me.

I beckon to it

as I try to walk towards

the window.

Stumble.

It’s more of a stumble.

But I’m working on it;

reaching for that window.

I want to touch it -

the window -

and the hope.

It may just be out of reach.

But I still see it.

I think it glimmers.

Fading in and out,

twinkling now and then -

just enough to repetitively

catch my eye.

Catching me off guard.

That window is tricky.

But maybe it will come closer.

So I can see the size.

It seems so small,

so far away.

In the end,

though,

I know that a window,

has actually opened.
