obviously more to do with reflection and social commentary than parasailing...but when one is on the outside looking in, (or in this case "up above and looking down") we have the hindsight 20/20 goggles on. nice job, man.
You have a clever way of bringing forth this thought provoking poem... soft spoken, yet Powerful. The picture sets the tone of peace and tranquility, but your words are what really captures the true message... It's start with us. We have all these wonderful abilities to make a difference, and it is up to us. Which path will be chosen and do we have the courage? Excellent write, my friend!
I didn't read this and then think it a parody or satire... If it is, then more power to you Allen. If not, well - then more power to you Allen. As statements they all have been made. As wishes - they seem to be strived for. As actions... untold numbers continue to die as additional untold numbers actively seek them.
As a final set of questions:
Whose description and determination of Peace do you want?
Whose happiness do you aspire to?
Whose rights do you champion?
Whose freedom do you seek? And What freedom is sought?
and lastly - Whose concept of love do you accept OR what is YOUR concept of Love?
What Allen has done well here is to look at the contradictions implied in concepts like love, freedom and peace. Everybody likes them and wants them, but it gets a bit complicated when you look at the details. This poem cleverly looks at the doubts and complications behind abstractions...
A good poem.
