There I was (Light & Thunder)

There I was (Light & Thunder)

A Poem by Allen Smuckler

There I was

(Light and Thunder)

There I was

minding my business

when in you walked

set right down

and made my heart beat

like it was twenty one.

I saw the light

and felt the thunder

colliding into space

the world a beautiful place

and all that came before

meant nothing any more.

I turned around an evolution

while you slept beside me

took light from the womb

revolutionized the day

and scratched the itch

in my heart.

Amid the glorious light

and the furious thunder

and without warning

I lost my way, then

in you walked

and I was found.

As the windows shook

and my soul was lifted

from core to shining core

there I was

lost no more

among the light and thunder.

Hmmmmm. Beautiful imagery, and somewhat peaceful, for some reason. :) Lovely piece of poetry.

An interesting take on an old theme...Usually, the thunderstorm, with its rain and shrieking winds, is reserved for the bad days, late in the relationship, but you have taken the gut-rumbling, eye-blinding power and equated them to the overwhelming sensations of newly-found love.
A Note of Caution (with tongue deeply in cheek): Beware of those hailstones--they're up there!

That was wonderful: your phrasing is impeccable and elegant, and the poem itself was uplifting in the most fantastic way.

"and scratched the itch
in my heart."

Incredible imagery. Well done.

The light from womb and itch of heart I loved these images, the way you penned such depth of love and need was touching, the whole idea she is the very essence required to feel once more alive is beautiful, welcome back and keep em' coming

This is beautiful Allen. I was ready to grab the hankies but only for the love of tender love story that touched my heart. I could feel every word written. And I wondered to myself, I want someone to feel that way about me one day. You captured this with such style and grace. I loved reading it and its one of my favs now. Thanks for sharing an amazing poem.
