Disappointment Turned To JoyA Poem by Allen Smuckler..Living on the edge..
Sliding and
slithering, the snake-like road glided quiescently
beneath the snail-like car. The destination: a stony cliff, the purpose: follow the summer
sun on its daily
journey far beyond the
rolling hills… As
I reached the r d cliffs a e gg of West Rock Park, outside the town of
New Haven, the sky began to
deepen, the clouds
blanketed the earth. a rumble suddenly and
candidly the 1st
drop splashed and moistened my
nose, the 2nd
my ear while the 3rd
& 4th, square onto my head The sprinkle
continued; counting became
futile. An
incessant shower placidly washed
away the days useless
toil.. and it thundered with a clap… Only
moments had passed when I rose to my
feet, shuffled aimlessly back to my auto, and rolled for the ride home a diminutive
number. © 2011 Allen SmucklerAuthor's Note
