Entering Life's Mirror

Entering Life's Mirror

A Poem by Allen Smuckler

Green pastures in the lost horizon

seen through hazy skies

which blanket the stillness of the brown river.

Flowing hills beneath

      the heavy clouds of peace

and sparkling streams

     on their endless journeys,

with trees and birds

         and even ants

just digging this beauty

for endless miles.

I sit alone with

my thoughts and fears

secluded in another land

              away from the world

         and those kept prisoners

miles from the violence

           encountered daily.

Hoping mankind can

         find the peace within

so peace will reign for everyone,

when all can say they can finally see

the memory, the dream, the reality

maybe, just maybe we will find ourselves

entering life’s mirror,

entering life’s mirror,

entering life’s mirror,

Lovely picture
If everyone could find the peace within ones self I do believe it would overflow outward and then peace would reign with everyone.
This was a wonderful piece Allen, I love getting off to myself, and allowing myself to feell the peace and the quiet. But I too often find my self reflecting and entering life's mirror. Enjoyed this one alot

Sounds like another 20-something I dimly remember, on his second afternoon at Duquesne University in Pittsburg, trying in vain to collect his thoughts. I wonder when the notions of "Hoping Mankind can find the peace within", and "... maybe we will find ourselves" finally agreed that they could no longer find a home in me, and left?

I think this is beautiful. It makes me want to get away from everything and just think. But it also gets me hopeful that the world does find peace. The first stanza holds a wonderful description of your surroundings.

Wow I want to go there! Awesome job in with this poem. The picture sets the mood so perfectly. The loose font, and word choices made for an enjoyable fluid read.

Allen, I love this picture and the place where your mind was when you wrote this. just maybe we will find ourselves entering life’s mirror.......like the way your repeated entering life's mirror......made one feel as if they were entering with you.
