Discovering Twilight

Discovering Twilight

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

picture: Deerfield Beach, Fla. - 2010

"

I’m smiling while sitting at

the kitchen table

reawakening to the

falling twilight and

the fading of love’s

presence.

Darkness and

dread become

my companion,

as fear

turns to fright

and all within me

near withers.

The circle of life

and living,

brings about

the promise,

and hope

of a new

inspirational day.

I’ll mark on

the calendar,

the genesis of

the day’s discovery;

happiness and love

found once more.

Such is the magic

and beauty

of life.

As we wait for

the twilight,

night turns

to dawn …

hand in hand.

After Kate Little received my "new" poem based on her review of my original poem "Discovery", she reworked my new poem "Twilight's Discovery" into "our" poem in "Discovering Twilight". Got it? But we're not finished yet...I then tweaked our poem into Discovering Twilight 2" (1/25/11)... Whew! You have to keep reading now; you've come this far.

A true pleasure to read your work..."Happiness and love found once more"....The thought alone is beautiful.

A succinct summary of a day, or a life, as we progress through serenity, into paranoia, resulting in depression, fostering need, leading to surrender, then right 'round again into serenity! A cycle which COULD be made to work FOR us, but rarely is!

A wonderful devotional love poem. It's simplistic approach is its genius. The wording is crafted well and I love the cycle of the day as it relates to the cycle of our lives that you wrote here. Good Poem.

The circle, the balance of life is portrayed nicely here. The images are peaceful, hopeful. Light always comes from darkness and vice versa.

' .. night turns to dawn .. hand in hand.' Words into words into meaning, matching the brilliance of the picture. The poem changes pace and place, you start comfortably at the kitchen table, move into fear which, in turn, moves into first doubt then hope .. sweet hope. The moods are strong, the finish gentle.
