my soul do take

my soul do take

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

walking on the wooded path..it's never too late

"

what a way to end a year

nothing in the way but cheer

but then a few... words of doubt

just to check my feelings out...

how could things become so wrong

left me loving here so long

those words of doubt were only me

learning how to be a we...

and now you’re gone, left for good

in my head... I thought you should

though my heart would disagree

and wish your eyes could really see...

the pain I suffer everyday

wishing you would come my way

holding hands and making love

God is watching from above...

walking on the rooted path

lying in our steamy bath

kissing lips that feel so fresh

in the room our bodies mesh...

my every thought... is of you

oneness turning into two

I cried this day about our fate

and pray dear lord it’s not too late...

What a sadly moving, sweeping epic of life... Your words take us over this worn path, filled with tears and longing. Those last lines summarize the emotions so clearly... "oneness turning into two..." Aching at the thought, my friend.

What a wonderfully expressive piece of writing, the flow of it made me read almost too quickly, soo, have had to read it three times - and that's what a craftsman-writer does to a reader! Each time I read it, there was something extra to see and/or feel. The sad cries in this are painful, and makes the reader feel like an intruder in what's such a personal situation.

' .. and now you’re gone, left for good ~ in my head... ' seems to be fear creeping in. Sadly beautiful.

When two people become one it is amazing in all the sense but when departing whether for good reasons or not the separation back into two completely separate people is shattering. It breaks your heart and you have to learn to live alone again. Do things alone again.

I love the you and I as one feel throughout and the tangible plea in the ending of hoping there is yet time. Beautifully crafted and very moving. Keep em' coming

The photo is amazing. I like the mystery of the woods and the forest. A very good poem. Photo added to the desire of the poem. Easy to get twist-up and can't find the proper place to be. A strong ending to the poem. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Allen this is beautfully written like always. The picture intrigues me. The insufferable path of life's journey.......you never know where it might take you in a poets head.
