Does She Hear

Does She Hear

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

..never easy, but harder when a parent or sibling...

"

The blank stare

and cavernous gaze

leaves me stark

and disenchanted.

What lies beneath

those orbs of haze?

Questions left unanswered.

I wonder aloud...

Does she hear?

Does she care?

Lost in the abyss

of endless days

unable...unwilling

to deal with the dark.

I talk to my sister

who cannot respond;

while

cell phones ring

and radios sing

and still

nothing makes sense.

We sit and wait

and ponder reasons.

Perplexed by answers

left untold.

It’s all behind

that endless gaze…

although

 all I could ask was,

Does she hear?

Does she care?

Is she there?

She looks to have been a hearty soul full of laughter and kind words she must be a real loss to you and yours for not enough joy in the world my friend. You capture the feelings well the need to understand why and if she even knows she as such love around her at the end. But as a spiritulist death is not the end only the casting off of a tired shell and returning to our spirit forms to continue our journey and as time as no meaning for them they will be awaiting you with open arms come the day you set your feet to wandering beyond the veil. Beautiful poem A, keep em' coming

I'm sorry for your loss. Need to remember your sister in words and in thoughts. I hope you are doing OK. I know there are no words when we lose the important people in our life. I believe she can hear and she cared. Tears and sadness are the way we sent love to the people we miss.

Oh so sad...I couldn't bear it.
Your poem caused me to feel your grief.
If it was my brother... I would just die inside
I love him so much.
He was always
a baby to me.

I know how hard it is to loose a sibling, because I lost my sister as well. But probably a whole different scenario from yours. She died because of a drunk driver. Anyways, I really enjoyed this poem, there was so much raw emotion and the picture made it incredibly beautiful.

I talk to my sister

who cannot respond;

while

cell phones ring

and radios sing

That was just...beautiful. Good job.

Losing a sibling is hard. Losing a loved one makes you question life. Your expression written during this time is filled with pain, grief and questions. It is good that you were able to express it. I find writing to be very healing, it helps you sort out your emotions so that you can process it. Take care of yourself, remember the experiences you shared - your sister will always remain with you in your heart and your memories of experiences shared.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. This is a very sad and heartfelt poem but one
expressed fondly. Very well written! Your wording was absolutely captivating.

Emotional and reasonable pondering I myself have been in a similar situation. Never easy, this is why we should never let feelings and emotions go untold, we should let those around us know how much we love them before its to late, we know of today and not tomorrow.
Sorry for your loss, she cares!!!! And now she will always be there, in your heart.
