While He's AwayA Poem by Allen SmucklerAn ekphrastic poem based on the artwork of Victoria (Torii) Harper I DON"T KNOW WHY ART WORK CONTINUES TO DISAPPEAR !While He's Away Looking for affection while we’re apart Mountainous roads stand between us. I see my reflection in the silver pond Mesmerized by her sumptuous lips. Skeletal remains from distant past, Fingers caress her hair as she purrs. Yet all she can think about is escaping the moment while he’s away … Fever spews from her words once more And enters into forgiven wounds. New masses grow as years expound, the depths of rivers crash ashore. Still the loneliness expand the years And the crests of hills turn molten hot with the fever she feels. Rejoice as lips kiss the sky, while he’s away …
Legs dangle motionless in perpetuity Shark attacks the stillness of the night the regalness of time floats by for no other reason than she could. Dismay dissipates and dwindles and the love she feels ferments, grows to a feverish pitch, then fades into the mustard sky. while he’s away. © 2024 Allen SmucklerAuthor's Note
