Enter My Life, For I Will Soon Be GoneA Poem by Allen Smuckler* Villanelle- feel free to critique, offer feedback, comments, or changes.Enter My Life, For I Will Soon Be Gone (a villanelle)*
Enter my life through gentle light of dawn, Silver tarnishes and returns to rust. I somehow sense that I will soon be gone. Pandered about in the world as someone’s pawn, Not always easy to know whom to trust. Enter my life through gentle light of dawn.
From the ledge of the mountain I am drawn, to wish love existed in lifeless dust. I somehow sense that I will soon be gone.
There is nothing like the scent of a fawn, as contrite it might be, show it I must. Enter my life through gentle light of dawn.
While daisies in the field are frowned upon, and the lilies on the pond seem so unjust. I somehow sense that I will soon be gone.
My eyes remain closed as the shades are drawn, the strength of my words is more than robust. Enter my life through gentle light of dawn. I somehow sense that I will soon be gone. © 2023 Allen SmucklerAuthor's Note
