In Thoughtful Muse

In Thoughtful Muse

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

an ekphrastic

"

So powerful, so candid, so pure

was he - a god-like warrior,

with sensibility and definition,

expressed in marble and imagination.

Beautiful in his sheer nakedness,

empowered by revered sacredness,

he stands erect at nonchalant attention,

eyes agazed in composed confirmation.

Splendidly perched, in perfect rapture,

discerning nature, form and stature.

A fustibal held with clear condemnation,

prepared for battle with some apprehension.

The chance of victory or success,

was something David failed to assess.

Holier than thou, sincere affirmation

his feat accomplished, austere adulation.

Excellent poem. Makes me think of the first time you see great art in person. The pure rush of sight and emotion. Wonderful job.

I knew instantly this was about David, but still, I found myself searching for any other possibility as to interpret this in a less-obvious way. In the end, this is an unmistakable tapestry that I could not apply to any other entity . . . not even some of the Gods I dated when I was a Goddess *wink! wink!*

Picture perfect description of the statue of David that is admired by the millions. I think you are competing with Michelangelo with one of his masterpieces. I love how you cover all the art form and emotions
Keep it up
