Yes, this is wonderful poetry and it is a gentle reminder as Leslie stated more eloquently than I will that we learn from our children. There is always that moving forward and reaching back that makes the family strong.
Allen is a fine writer, both pf prose and poetry. I remember very well his excellent autobiographical work
about his Jewish background, which I found fascinating. This is an excellent poem, finely weighted with the short phrases bewteen the verses, and the content true ; I know, it is very true that adults and children teach each other in a family circle..
Hey, Allen. I really like this one. Something inspirational.
I love the last two stanzas which are the strongest part of the poem:
"We begin to
change in
order
to realize the
hopes
and dreams of
the next generation
for them
and
for us…"
Yes, we have to be good because the world that we are building is not only for us but also for them, the next generation.
coexist...on your computer...hang on to my hand while I fall into the eye roll position......and......we're back. Okay. That little child is the most adorable...oh wait...did you write something? Ah. Not so much. Thanks for the friend request but I respectfully decline. Unless...you f**k with my work first. Thems the rules, kid...
truly beautiful
children are everything life should be
enjoyable words my friend
lovely picture- I like the fact that the adult (wink wink) is wearing the kids favorite head phones version- ear buds and the little one is wearing the well let us call em puffy ones*)
thank you fine sir...nice to see ya*)
Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is an eye opener! Watching my son register for college these last two days has been so hard for me. I think I have bitten my tongue in two. He sees my pain and has offered comfort in a grin, an 'ahhh, mom' and a hug or thirty. Beautiful work, beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing, Allen. Good to see you writing, man! Angi~
