War

War

A Poem by Allen S. Thomas
"

WWI trench warfare.

"
Into the fire, into the ice,
into the game, into the dice,
from the peace, into the war,
Will it ever suffice?

Out the chute the missiles roar,
into the corpses with blood and gore,
Bullets flying overhead, countless have fallen and more with dread,
Haven't you had enough?

Fight through the trenches,  rally and roar,
Bombs explode, and bullets soar,
Death before dishonor!

Rally 'round the banner! Charge through the line!
Chief blows the whistle, everyone goes at once,
Into the valley and pits of hell,
Never to charge again.....

I like how this flows in the first 2 stanzas, but the rhythm changes halfway through!

The opening line has a feeling like, I've heard this before... but overall,
Good job. Nice imagery
