Silence

Free speech is an act of resistance in a free world not in Russia

In lands where silence reigns, a tale unfolds,
Survival's whispered secret, truth untold.
The very air they draw, a muted plea,
A nation gripped by ancient tyranny.

Can silence cleanse, redeem the soul within?
Or is it but a mask for hidden sin?
In silence, is there solace, is there grace?
Or does it mask the meanness we must face?

Free speech, a beacon, bold act of the free,
A stand against the chains, a jubilee.
In Russia's realm, the options are severe,
Raise patriot's voice or quiver in fear.

Author's Note

You can wash yourself away from dirt and sweat, but how can you wash yourself away from silence in the country where the silence as a way of survival and a necessary condition for existence is violence?

Silence is a way of life, fear is all around , bombs and misfiles frighten…. We must protect the very existence of this country or it will be taken over by a tyrant…….survival is the heart of a bold spirit that keeps these people alive in conditions that are deplorable…yet the great spirit reins ……and these people where left shall prevail…….

That which is taking place in Ukraine is a horrendous travesty, an offense against the very Humanity of the People of Ukraine ... As you know, my viewpoint is that, both, the U.S. & Russia are fully responsible for the loss of life and destruction taking place in Ukraine on a daily basis ... As such is my researched opinion ... However, I must also say that, regardless of who of which various parties is at fault's to blame with Ukraine as a helpless pawn in a Chess Game between multiple superpowers, there is no solace to be found in knowing who is to blame, when it is your loved one's being attacked, murdered and maimed, when it is your home leveled in flames ... My heart does reach out for and empathize with the People of the nation of Ukraine ... As always, your poetry is spot on excellent ...
