Stop the War

Stop the War

A Poem by Alla Antsis
"

Horrors of war, quest for piece

"

Amidst peace's promises, war's horrors remain,

Spring brings new life, but love feels in vain.

Lost souls wander, searching for hope,

Pain and heartache, a never-ending slope.

When does it end, this cycle of strife?

When will we lay down our weapons and knives?

Can love conquer all, and heal our wounds?

Or will we be doomed to eternal ruins?

The answer lies not in the hands of fate,

But in the choices we make, before it's too late.

Let peace and love guide our hearts and minds,

And leave war and pain, far behind.

"War, good God y'all, what is it good for, absolutely nothing. Say it again!" Lyrics from Edwin Starr's song War. It says exactly what your poem is saying except yours says it beautifully. I am with you on this...I feel so badly for those stuck in a conflict like what is going on now. Helpless and innocent...wow.

You are saying that war is not rational or to do with religion or the machinations of fate. It is stupid and wasteful and lacking any redeeming feature and I totally agree with you my friend. Totally.
But perhaps I couldn't say it as well.

Alla,

Are you converting me to a Muslim? ... LOL! -- Allah? ... Just kidding ...

But ... Had you grown up during the 60's & 70's here in the States, then, you would likely have heard this song played on the radio by one of my all time favorite bands: Grand Funk Railroad. During those days the infamously shameful Vietnam War was going on, and Grand Funk had a song on their E-Plurbius Funk album, titled, People, Let's Stop The War ... I thought you might enjoy it, and that it might carry the connotation's same message as is needed in Ukraine, today ...

Same group fifty years later and with different drummer and bass play, but Mark Farner, guitarist and songwriter, say it all, even now of today; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J5hmSliFU0

Excellent Work and the sentiments are spot-on. Thank God our Leaders are not putting American and British Boots on the Ground in the Ukraine atm. Long live the Peace Movement.

Conflict if you are one of the masses caught in its grip is horrendous. War is futile serves no purpose, yet some make money on the back of it. Very nicely conveyed stanzas here. Enjoyed the end rhyme and flow.

A great message. Our history shows hundreds of thousands of years of efforts at peace only temporary. We need a social revolution as great as our technological advances to change this. Maybe some day this will happen.
