To Fly

To Fly

A Poem by Melissa Kellum
"

When you feel confined, even by one's own doubts, all you long to do is be free....

"

What would it be like to fly?
To toss stoney heavy worries from pockets and watch them glide away from me as I fell from nothing into nothing more?
To see the straining emotional tide foam beneath me, waving goodbye to me?
To leave all the city scapes and escape, escape and head towards the blue that is as hard as concrete, hard as the stone walls that echo fals promise and kept threats.

I wish I could dance along the clouds and watch the stars blossom before my eyes in turnip white, and lemon yellow, and tomato red.
I wish I could let the ache in the fingers let go  and dive deep into that nearly forgotten world;

Christmas pagents and kneeling pads of past;
to see forbidden things and taste unique things and smell unbeliavable things instead of the harsh, dank mundane things of the grin.

What would it be like to fly- Just once! Just forever!
Day and night frozen always here and now for myself finally for myself.

No more this for that, no more thee before I
Unforgiving rules and unjust lies
Flying free
Just me
Being Free.

I'm just a girl that likes to set words to page in the hopes that others will start to see the world the way I do- A crazy kaleidoscope of bitterness and belief, of love lost and love never had, of.. more..
