THE DOG

From metal post to fence of wood,
hosing down the neighborhood,
one foot sticking in the air,
he does his duty everywhere.
Here and there a tiny squirt
and dots of pee pee in the dirt,
determined in his rounds to riddle
every bush in sight with piddle,
making statements drip by drip
that HERE is private ownership.

In doggie terms, it makes good sense,
this laying of a liquid fence,
so others can determine if
the spot is free with just a whiff.

Dogs express themselves with barks
and other times with piddle marks.
Few have seldom ever fiddled
with on what another's piddled.

As for me- I'd post a sign
that states: "THIS PROPERTY IS MINE!"
a substitute to use in lieu
of pee pee which I would not do.
