A Raven With A Broken Wing

There is a raven
    large and
    black
    most opposite
    of whitest white
A broken wing
    prevents it
    from the air

It must survive
    by
    foraging
    the lawns
    competing
    with
    the smaller faster birds
    and kin

It knows me
    like
    an alley cat
    I knew
    which
    was my friend

I share
    small portions
    of
    my daily lunch
    beneath
    a tree
    we are familiar
    with
    We do not touch
    nor
    are there
    conversations

Companions
    linked
    by tiny
    scraps of food
    and
    one old tree
    of pine
