Talked Down

Talked Down

A Poem by Alister Flik

 Talked down.

I am right.

Allow me to open your mind

Feeble thinkers

I will be the bigger person

I will answer slowly

You will understand.

Feel the hope

I will inspire

You poor lost infants.

I am smart

I am closer

Than you could ever hope to be.

But lean in closely,

And I will hint

At the truths I possess

In my vast knowledge of

Correctness.

Poor lost souls.

If only you could

Be me.

Ah, what a familiar feeling. There is nothing so infuriating as not being listened to, or not being heard perhaps, or even not having your words understood. It often causes me not to saying anything at all. I really enjoyed this piece from the line 'But lean in closely..." That ending really caught my attention. Nicely done!

I had an ongoing conversation with this guy for a couple of days I think...

It made me incensed enough to write also...

Ain't it great that regular folk get nothing out of anger but a red face and high blood pressure, while we get art and poetry?
(by the way... it seemed clear to me)
Great little rush... Gordon

Um, I'm glad to have my writing reach people in any way possible. But I'm just gonna add that, in this poem, the speaker is a self-righteous prick...not someone who feel's their opinion is being ignored. Someone who feels their opinion is worth more than anyone else's. Sorry, that I didn't clarify.

What to say? I could be boring; say what is obvious: I like writing. I could be bizarre; say something random: I like frogs. I could be mysterious; say nothing: What do you want from me? Ask. .. more..
