Whirlwind Romance

Whirlwind Romance

A Poem by Alistair (Ali)

Up wind- cuffed pathways

chanced and fooled

I saw her, briefly

Her briskly dress, a squalling maul

of last year's favourite maple, horned

in all jurassic passion, met me,

dizzy, by the lee-side wall

in gale-borne abandon.

“Her briskly dress, a squalling maul...”-How can anyone resist the sound and terpsichore of your lines and your “Through The Looking Glass” mind Ali?? You see the world through eyes of birds and hearts of waves and souls of sand and shale and shoals. You take us with you and show us the jewels all around. When we read you, we come away washed clean by salt and sea-spray. For all of this, I thank you, my friend. Bravo.
