Three

Three

A Poem by Star Cross
"

.

"

And I see three paths before me
Wanting me to walk upon them.
They mock me.
They hold my greatest desires and needs,
Which one should I choose?

"Come, my child. I'll show you the way to greatness."
The right one says.
I soon realized that greatness cannot be shown,
Rather it is gained.
Away!
I will not be tempted.

"Come, my child. I'll give you all of the glory and power."
The left one remarks.
I then discovered that glory and power were more deadly than a snake's venom.
Be gone!
I will not be tempted.

"Come, my child. I'll take you to the unknown lands and hidden treasures."
The middle one implies.
I then learned that the lands were corrupted with glory and power,
And that the hidden treasures gave no one greatness.
Yet, I still walked upon it.

There is no fourth path.
