Deal

Deal

A Poem by Jeannette Lunete

Leave me
But before you go
Please take as a hostage my ego

Sign my capitulation announcement
Throw it into the ocean
Look deep down into it and put my stones into your pockets

It was not rocket science to misunderstand me
Tastefully announcing your failure to grasp my wandering shadow
Or forget to spell my white lies backwards

Take the sparkle out of my eyes
Blind the stars with it
And at least try to get my final hint

I can let you know
As far as I am not part of this show
That here is no one to take the final bow

Deal?

sometimes it is so hard to be understood....and others try to see through the smoke and mirrors...
but in the end....leaving is always the unfortunate ending...and often the ego tags along...
and we just slip out the back, Jack...no bow.
really like the line "spell my white lies backwards"---
this poem is intricate...and complex like love becomes so often.

There is a lot unsaid and between the lines here. Hard to tell whether the speaker is taking the blame or telling someone to take a walk. Verse 3 may be the key to the poem.
