Drizzt Do'Urden is a drow, or dark elf, from the Legend of Drizzt series by R. A. Salvatore. (He belongs to Salvatore and to Wizards of the Coast, Inc.) The drow are generally characterized by evil and mercilessness, but Drizzt is different. He is compassionate, loyal, and extremely altruistic. However, he faces a lot of harsh judgment, even death threats, because of his heritage. If you have not read the Legend of Drizzt series, I highly recommend it. I wouldn't say they're the most well-written books out there, but they're fun, and the characters are fascinating.

Love the whole Dark Elf series (a big fan of the spider queen) and a nice tribute to Salvatore Bravo! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! And thank's to Shadow for sending me the read request for this poem :~)
If you have not read any Terry Brooms or Piers Anthony and if you are a fan of steampunk Scott Westerfeld, I would love to introduce them to you. They don't have the style as Salvatore but they each have a passion for their work that makes them very worth reading :~)

You know, my funda on reading is read any book that catches my attention, never chose a book because of the author. Well definitely going to read this series because of the same reason. Ok now coming to the main point. I like the way you have presented your work. No unnecessary words. The vocabulary showcased is mature and sophisticated. And in the end all of it can lead to the imagery of much more than Drizzt himself. Add another line, or twist your words a bit, this poem could become very vague and open to a lot of interpretations. Again that is just my suggestion. What you have done here, is impressive and I like the way you have shown love for a character. ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

I did intend for this poem to be very simple in its construction to illustrate the stark contrast between most people's outward perception of Drizzt and who he really is inside. You are correct in noticing that this poem is not as open to interpretation as many others. It is definitely about this specific character. However, I think the image of "My blood is as red as yours" can be applied to many situations. That's what really got me started on this poem - thinking about how, no matter how infinitely different we are, we all bleed the same color. Kind of morbid, I guess, but interesting to think about. :) Thanks again for the review. Enjoy reading about Drizzt and friends! They are fantastic!
