Ode to a CelebrityA Poem by AliciaBOk, the title looks dumb, but the poem is... less dumb. Hopefully.Hello To someone I’ll never know Besides through a glowing screen. I’ll hear your words On the radio And wonder what they really mean. I want to say that I truly care About who you are inside. That this isn’t some obsession with a millionaire That I’m trying hard to hide. I don’t know what you’re really like Besides what’s on the news. So many times I wish and hope That that isn’t really you. We shape the world around us by Our actions and our words. But I can’t imagine how you’ve been shaped By your crazy, twisted world. What beauty was inside of you That fortune took away? What dying did you suffer through ‘Til you were left this way? Do you still have the innocence You had when you were young? Do you still smile the way you did When you had first begun? Deep in your heart, is there regret For words that you have said? Do conversations haunt your thoughts As you lie at night in bed? Do you feel pain for how you look, Distress for how you’re seen? Do you ever pause and think about What else you could have been? I never will know what it’s like To live among the stars. But I can gaze with open eyes Upon your shining scars. I see you in the brilliant lights - You’re a celebrity. And deep inside, I know that you Are broken, just like me. © 2016 AliciaBReviews
