Paper

Paper

A Poem by AliceSon13

My heart is a sheet of paper

Blank.

It can be wet with tears and drowned with sorrow

Or

It can burn with anger and passion.

I fold the corners of this paper

I do oragami

I make you a present with this paper heart of mine

Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas,

And most of all

Happy Valentines Day.

"Be my valentine?" I say as I give you the oragami

You smile, look at it and shake your head.

"It isn't good enough" You crumble it in your hands

You walk away.

I kneel down next to the crumpled art

Having nothing to do but pull it back whole and try to straighten it.

I write my suicide note on the back thinking it's straight

Because I know the only thing I'd ever be perfect at was death

But the paper is still crumpled

And now it's drenched in my blood.
