![]() Chapter Five (Raven) [IN PROGRESS BUT UPDATED]A Chapter by Alice Reiht"So Raven," Mabel said as she shoved a clump of eggs into her mouth. "Where do you come from, exactly?" "Well, depends on what you mean." Raven shrugged. "Do you mean where I'm born, or where I'm living currently?" "Um, both!" Mabel smiled, before nodding to Dipper. "Pass the salt, will you?" "Well," Raven replied as she stabbed her own plate of eggs. "I was born outside of Brunswick, Georgia, and when I was about five, we moved to Nevada. Then, um." She stared at the table for a moment, questioning whether or not to tell them everything. I mean, they're total strangers. Anything that's happened to me shouldn't concern them. Then again, if I'm staying with them all summer... "Then what?" Mabel nudged her. "Then what what?" "Oh, um," Raven snapped out of her trance. I told Stan... I'll just tell her what I told him. That's all they need to know. "Then I went to go live with, um, my aunt and uncle." Mabel's eyes widened. "Why'd you have to go?" Raven shoved a forkful of eggs into her mouthful. She shrugged, looking away. "Well, did you-" Mabel started, before Stan shook his head. Mabel sat back in her chair, and the table was silent for a moment. "So, um, Raven," Dipper managed. "How long are you staying? Like, in Gravity Falls?" Raven relaxed her shoulders. "Just for the summer. At least, that's what I was told." "Um, well," Dipper started, though the look on his face looked like he was lost for words. "Great!" Mabel burst in, her bubbly smile back on her face. "Hey Grunkle Stan!" She turned back to her uncle. "Can me and Dipper and Raven go exploring after dinner?" "Sure," Stan mumbled, grabbing Mabel's plate. "Just don't get eaten. I'm not cleaning fish bones and dog guts out of the your shower again." Raven laughed. "Dog guts?" "Don't ask." Stan grumbled as he set down the plates in the box sink. Before Raven could ask anything else, Mabel gulped down her glass of juice and jumped from her chair. "I'm grabbing my camera!" She hollered, but she was already halfway down the hall. Raven chuckled, nudging Dipper in the arm. "I take it she can be a handful, huh?" He smiled, laughing himself. "Yeah, she's a little wild, to say the least. But, in the end, I couldn't ask for a better sister." They both turned to see Mabel trot into the kitchen holding a fat, pink pig in her arms, that apparently had a sweater on similiar to hers. "I forgot to introduce you to this special someone!" Mabel beamed, but before she could continue, everyone else groaned. "Waddles." Stan and Dipper said simultaneously, a shared look of exhaustion on both of their faces. Raven laughed, scratching the pig behind the ears as she pushed in her chair. "Hello there, Sir Waddles!" She smiled, her and Mabel's grins eventually spreading to the men. "Well, I suppose we ought to get adventuring? I haven't seen everything but I want to tonight!" She laughed, grabbing Dipper's arm and dragging him out the door alongside Mabel. As they bolted outside, a man's voice stopped them in their tracks, but then lit up even bigger smiles on the twins' faces. "Hey Soos!" They yelled, running over to the green-shirted figure approaching in a golf cart. He was fairly young, and friendly looking too. © 2025 Alice Reiht |
