Firelight

Firelight

A Poem by Laura Pruett

Desperation runs along my veins

Hot like ice to the skin

when the salt is only almost

there, where it hurts without the pain of pleasure

Aching in my bones for those desires

run rampant in my soul

And only I can know those

unbridled yet unkindled passions

that are so very cold and yet....

my soul's on fire
