Dancing Sugarplums

Dancing Sugarplums

A Poem by Laura Pruett

I close my eyes to rest,
Hoping for some escape,
Some relief for my body,
Sanctuary for the soul

Little stomping feet,
Doors opening wide.
Can you get me this?
Look at what I can do!

He stole my toy!
He won’t share!
It’s my turn!
I never get to do it!

Up I get again,
Against my will,
Consequences for decisions made;
No rest for the wicked.

ha, i liked this. the act of trying to contemplate, for a moment alone.... and then the constant work it is to take care of children - yet there's a sadness there, like this isn't the life one wanted? regardless, well done. :) light and whimsical, yet obviously with a deeeper meaning.
