Pearl in Lavender

Pearl in Lavender

A Poem by Alice.Valkyrie
"

about a picture on the wall

"

Her sepia gaze

looks over the room

from bygone victorian days

with lavender smiles

and embroidered hair

lacey arms intertwined

the bed once belonged to she

giving birth, and dying there

on whitewashed floors

with tapestried trees

hidden drawers full of treasure

beaver coat, mink stole

braided rug to warm bare feet

marble vanity for her pleasure

she watches still from gilted frame

reflected in the mirror

peeking out a small round window

at a world that isn't the same
