Awoken, startled by piercing screams

beads of sweat entwined from brow to chin

duvet high with false salvation

a silence of deepest, darkest intent

A shadow menacing from my wall

claws and horns and hunched of back

I want to scream but gripped by fear

I lay imprisoned in my flesh

Something crawling on my skin,

I flinch and tremble from within

a scratching sound beneath my bed

as terror creeps from every pore

Dare I reach out my arm to bring forth light?

and awaken the malignant presence unseen

my arm wont move, I lie here still

afraid, alone as the unbidden come

Demonic wail, noises in my wall

don't tell me these terrors are not real

horrors hide just out of sight

but still I feel their fetid breath

So real and creeping in my room

seeking prey and foretelling doom.
