Forgotten

Forgotten

A Poem by Analgesia

Slanting rain like impressionist brushes

Roadside trees bristle like worried cats

Something for miles is nothing in time

Radio static

No stations

Mirage on the cold lightless highway

Cap exploding with scraggly woolen hair

Stiff stuffy jacket arm hailing a ride

Frozen

Black thumb

Attentive engaging einsteinian eyes

Speak with cold war inevitability

Prophetic Pompeian ashen gray

Rear view

Forgotten

This is a wonderful write. I was captivated by the simile in the first line and I went on to discover that the second line’s simile was equally impressive. You truly painted a melancholic picture with your usage of words. I agree with Sam; your spare descriptions supported the imagery. The format of the poem also stood out to me…the few words at the end of each stanza seemed to instill that sense of loneliness. Over all, skillfully and nicely done!

Forgotten hitchhiker. I like it. Especially the imagery I get. Your use of spare descriptions really help the reader to picture the scene you're describing. I've got to say, I absolutely love the line, "roadside trees bristle like worried cats." Again, incredibly witty and descriptive. You also did a good job not making everything too obvious. The poem was about a passing a hitchhiker on the highway, but those words were never spoken. Good job.
