Something Much MoreA Poem by Alexx Wake
I jump with full force into the cold blue sea,
No anchor. Weight of my shoulders; and two thin threads enough to sink a ship and she. "Why did I take her?" She stands there laughing, watching, & waving goodbye. I float above for a moment as I take one last look... She smiles. I cut off the threads from my shoulders and proceed to dive down a few miles. Thoughts of doubt consume which alludes myself to assume I'm no better. "That ship deserves better." I thought to myself. Surprisingly I manage to hold my breath. Unsurprisingly I fight my way back to the surface without rest.. No ship. Just me, alone, in the vast sea of nothingness; content. Eventually I find myself back under, where I was greeted by a mermaid. "Grab my hand", her thoughts echoed to mine. Without hesitation I did as she commanded. We swim into the depths until we reach what appears to be a castle, something I would've never imagined. "That world you knew and loved is gone.", Her thoughts echoed yet again. She taught me to breathe under water, and I eventually grew some fins. Moral of that story for those a little unsure: I died in that water, and became something much more. The End.
