I'll stay

I'll stay

A Poem by johnnyqueer

Simple times seem to cease in my mind,
I try to go back and visit them all the time.
I have nothing left to fall back on,
Everything has been gone for a while.
I too have been gone for a while,
Searching for something familiar.

Years are being thrown at me like
Black Jack hands, I'm at twenty one
And I'd really like to stay this way.
Not this way as in my mind,
But growing any older scares me,
Days that pass by terrify me.

I'm tired of watching things fall apart,
Then rebuilding things in the morning,
Importance is not important at all,
And forever is the biggest lie ever.
I'm just asking the dealer to cease,
My house of cards is collapsing.

This is very true. Sometimes I wish the process of Life had an off-switch, so I wouldn't get so overwhelmed. I love this poem for two reasons: it's honest and true, and I love playing cards. Black Jack hands are a perfect analogy for the troubles of life.
