I wonder what lies yonder.

I wonder what lies yonder.

A Poem by johnnyqueer

Sometimes I venture back and bask in your warmth,
You had an incredible power to dissolve my anguish.
Love pulsated from your being naturally like a river,
I tried to mimic your ways but found myself drowning.
I wish that the world hadn't been so damn selfish,
You were taken long before I was ready to release.

I hate my mind less when I can see you clearly,
Telling me to embrace the storm and keep going.
The way I've been heading I know that some of you
Can't help but be disappointed in where I am.
I'm in need of the strength you used to give me,
But I know that now you live inside of me.

I'd hate to think of you trapped inside here,
My heart tainted by time and bad decisions.
Heaven is much nicer place for you to slumber,
If only I could believe in such a fabrication.
I'll try my hardest to allow the past to inspire me,
Listening hard to see if you're whispering.

This is such a beautiful tribute to someone who obviously touched the deepest, and most gentle, places of your soul. I think we can all place someone in our lives into this beautiful poem. To me, it reminds me of my mother. But I love that you do not name a specific person, it leaves it open to each persons individual interpretation.

You have a lovely way with words. Keep it up. Ever thought of writing a book or a short story? You should. You would be able to describe things so well

I loved this poem - the obvious need to speak to the person you sought approval from, your wish for them to be in a better place via against your difficulty in believing in such a place. this was beautifully written. I'm pretty sure this person would see through your difficulties and see the real you. ' Normal' if such a person exists is highly overated. Give me the interesting writer ofbeautiful poetry any day, this world needs more of you

Each of these lines really hit me, I knew a person like that once too. I'm sure they'd be very proud of you, being able to put something like this into words the way you have.
