Realization.

Realization.

A Poem by johnnyqueer

I want to pour my past over ice,
Drink the pain and dance in bliss.
An overdose would be expected,
But at least I was okay for a while.

If resuscitation was offered I'd reject,
Find peace within the quiet under ground.
Dream that my life ended as I wished,
An old man drinking scotch by the sea.

Instead I'm here fighting back my sadness,
Pretending that this is just a dream...
Pinching myself and mouthing ouch.
It's terrifying to realize this is real.

Very relatable and it shows how people hide their feelings. I believed that the message in this poem was great. and overall this was great poetry. Good job.

Real life can be like that--a lot, in fact. I despise the painful, mundane reality of my life; that's why I escape into my writing. "It's terrifying to realize this is real." I've often thought that about my own life, every day in fact. Thank God for writing. :)
