Your star.

Your star.

A Poem by johnnyqueer

Eyes searching soul, abandoned but
revisited. All is black but the flicker,
faded into a greater horizon. Protection
failed to warn, you fell deeper.

I cradled your memories tightly,
allowed your light to live inside me.
Nurtured the seed until the bud
fluttered open, a star burst and shimmered.

You were no where to be found, didn't
care to claim what I had fought to keep.
Shadows crept in fear, the light was
murderous. I couldn't let it go.

Brighter than my own soul, yours
shined beyond. It grew out of control
breaking from my very roots, skyward
it soared. I still wish on that star.
