Focus.

Focus.

A Poem by johnnyqueer
"

A weekend of my life.

"
I need to focus on city lights, and gorgeous boys,
and imperfect life. I need to feel pulsations of bliss,
heavy kissing, on secret lips. Great aspirations take
a break, breathe in deep and drown.

I need to focus on the flashing lights, and strong drinks,
and forgetting life. I need to feel the inviting tingle of
drunken forgetfulness, smile and adore the music.
Dance until standing is impossible.

I need to focus on busy street lights, wait for red,
and cross the street. I need to hold the wall and
find the car. Climb inside and close my eyes.
Open the window and release.

I need to focus, morning lights too bright.
I need to close the blinds, and struggle
to remember exactly what I did last night.
What did I do last night?

I need to be free. How much conditioning is the first part of my confession, how much releasing is the last.

Love it! The bliss of shutting off reality, yet is it really worth it in the end? Do we feel any better for it later, or is it just more heartbreak and wasted life?
Excellent poem.

Ah, the escapism of it all. The other world...where the streetlights drown out the stars, and the medicine flows like life water. sometimes it's nice to put reality in your back pocket and charge into the drunken fray for a bit of the old madness.

But, then I remember waking up from those nights and wondering, "who do I need to call and apologize to?" lol!

And, that was no fun at all.

:) pros and cons; roses and thorns.

again, the bare and bruised honesty in these pieces are the draw for me. keep that voice pure, and they will read! :)

Cheers!

A brilliant dance of life... the movement of emotion... the feelings that stir and shake us. A powerful, vivid glimpse inside the heart and mind.
