CoverA Poem by Alexandria MarieCover I cover my bones with rag and sheet. I hum in waiting for the pain to glow Because I am not as I have been. Heart felt murmurs aid my sleep. Anxious winds howl, wrack, and blow. So, I cover my bones with rag and sheet. My veins flourish, blood drizzles, weeps. All that mass and one mind in tow Because I am not as I have been. Through snow, then sun rays, solitude I keep Swatches of flickering light show. Still I cover my bones with rag and sheet. Some gentle flutter, and my breastbone leaps. I shudder heaving out of darkness long and slow Because I am not as I have been. Beauty blinds as winging tendrils creep. I am glittering temptations no one should behold. Forever, I cover my bones with rag and sheet Because I am not as I have been. © 2010 Alexandria Marie |
