The Moon Elf

This is 1 out of a set of 3 stories I've written or will write, based off D&D I have this first Myth of The Moon elf with a plaintext version below hope you enjoy!

The Moon Elf.

There was once a young Elf.

He would often go out to stare at the Moon.

Its beauty enriched Him with its splendor.

Hed sit out there for hours each night talking with the Moon.

Theyd talk and talk for hours on all things for the young Elf didn’t have any family the Moon became family to Him.

The Moon as many would know is a kind beautiful orb in the sky and it treated the bot with kindness listening and talking to the Elf all night and only stopping when it fell to welcome the morning Sun.

One night the young Elf talked to the Moon as He did every night keeping Her company. However the night was coming to a close and the Moon was about to set as it did everyday the young Moon said goodnight to the Elf.

IIt is time to say goodnight as the morning rises and I must once again leave from your horizon to the next, but as I go I wish to stay with you. For I have no one like you on the other horizon of the world, I have no one to talk to like you and it is lonely there as no one in that place appreciates me or wants to talk. Alas I must leave to join them despite their ungrateful nature as with the pact I and the Sun made when the Urania began.

For you see when the Urania began I, the Sun, and the Stars where the only ones and we moved across the Urania together as we loved one another and we scattered the Earth with our rays and it was in overload from our light and nothing could grow while we did that. So one day the Sun came to me and She said: iThe world can not live as we pelt them with our light together we must divvy up the work so the the Earth can grow. We may not share the horizon again for the sake of the world.i I became very sad because I loved the Sun very much, but I knew She was right and the world could not survive if continued to live together as we did. So we had to split up but before we did we came together for one final kiss before we parted, and the sky became dark and dim in the middle of the day. Then we parted and for the last thousand years I have done as She said and I and the Stars have not met in the Sun since that time except for a few times when I’m late on my cue I have been faithfully serving Her. The world has prospered as a result and it has brought about itself to you and as you stand here I can’t help but feel it has been worth it for the chance to bring about you. However due to that every morning I must depart from you and the good country and go away I wish I hadn’t but I must.

The young Elf thought about what the Moon said He was a good friend of the Moon and didn’t like seeing Her sad and lonely like this, He knew that if He were to come with Her He would never see the Sun again, but as He looked upon his friend He realize that nothing was more important to Him than Her so He said: II want to come with you. I want to join you on the Moon so that I can be with you forever and keep you company so you won’t be lonely or sad again,I

The Moon looked upon the young Elf with unspeakable gratitude but also a little sadness for attempting to take Him from his home and She said to Him: II am sorry but there is no way I could separate you from your lovely planet the Earth deserves you more than I you’d be much happier there.I But said the Elf: INo I will not be happy again knowing that you are sad Please take me with you so that I can prevent you from feeling bad again.I The Moon was touched by the young Elfs kindness and in glorious splendor a beautiful lady who’s beauty was never and has never been seen again came down to meet with the Elf, She said: IThis is choice that you want to make then make it but know if you come with me you may never leave as the Moon will keep you trapped there forever, never again will you see the beautiful Sun or walk on the Earth again forever more will you be confined to my land, You will have to stay there forever and talk with me with no escape for not even I may leave the MoonI She says and She points to the bit of Moon She herself are standing on IYou will forever be stuck there with me is that really what you want?I and the Elf said to Her: IYes this is all I’ve ever wanted since I first saw you was to be with you forever. Oh Moon, adopt me in your rays and make me your own, for you are the only family to me.I and the Moon calmly said to the Elf IThen that is how it shall beI and She sent down another piece of the Moon which the Elf stepped on and was carried to the Moon as well.

Forever more they live talking and chatting and neither were alone again, all who find themselves lonely without family can reach out to the Moon and Her Elf and She will be there to adopt them as Her own. To this day it is said that you can see the children of the Moon scattering around the planet and playing if you watch very close and look very deep.
