The Man in the Tower - Part IIA Poem by Alexander SedgewickThis amusing but tragic limerick tells the story of Bill after his dramatic exit from his tower. His exploits and adventures lead him to new realizations and even worse dangers. The Man in the Tower Part II The smoke from the engine did rise. And the flames blazed all of the spies. King Bill glanced around, Bodies littered the ground, Then twelve crows took flight to the skies. Bill quickly examined the scene. What on Earth could this possibly mean? The valley was red, His friends were all dead, And those b******s had taken the Queen! "How dare they invade my tower!" "Up there they hide and they cower!" "I'll make them all pay!" "I will have my way!" "They will feel my wrath and my power!" In a rage, Bill grabbed all his gear. His flamethrower, shotgun and beer. The spies ran amuck, He got in his truck, And ran over each one like a deer.
For their lives he had little regard. He cackled with glee, He was finally free, He was after the Prince and the bard. He saw them up there on the road. They were heading toward his abode. "The old tower is mine!" "There tonight I will dine!" But then his truck did explode. The blast threw Bill high in the air. What a truly chaotic affair! He hit the ground hard, His truck was now charred, It was surely in need of repair.
On the ground battered Bill could just lay. "You son of a b***h," "I made you so rich!" He was pissed how they led him astray. He laid there unable to move, He felt there was too much to prove. In a pile of blood, His boots covered in mud, Bill had lost his swagger and groove. His body was totally battered, No sleep and no food if that mattered. So he looked to the skies, And shut his gray eyes, His pride was entirely shattered. And then darkness did quick turn to light, It was brilliantly blinding and bright. Was this warrior dead? Is it all in his head? One thing sure is his body took flight. © 2017 Alexander SedgewickAuthor's Note
