This is a witty short limerick that is pro-cat. Or is it?

The Pet Preferential

This fable goes out to the cats.

They are perfect to keep away rats.

They are cute and they purr,

And they have lots of fur,

And by God, they look goofy in hats.

But others would surely think not.

To a cat they don't give any thought.

Oh, it's true, they like dogs,

Sure, they take them on jogs,

Yes, my brother took his on a yacht.

For the record, I'll say it quite straight.

Overall, every dog is not great.

We agree, I would think,

That most of them stink,

On a hound, hand and foot one must wait.

And most dogs can be quite annoying.

They bite and are always destroying.

And the ones that bark loud,

This should not be allowed,

About that last point, I'm not toying.

Enough about dogs, I digress.

With a cat, at least there's no stress,

Nevermind that they shed,

They will meow until fed,

And their litter, it causes a mess.

A cat can just sit in the house.

And it surely won't chew up your blouse.

Yes, they make perfect pets,

And you'll have no regrets,

Now go and buy one for your spouse.
