My Little Princess (For My Sister)

My Little Princess (For My Sister)

A Poem by Alexander Cain

My little princess sits in her beautiful gown.

with hair the loveliest shade of brown.

I am her dragon killing jesters to protect her.

waiting for the day a noble knight comes to rescue her.

The villagers captured me and took my power,

now my princess sits alone in her tower.

I am forced to watch her from afar,

and no force nor flame will force the door ajar.

King Paul teaches her how to rule,

while I wish I was there to teach her how to duel.

Drake the wizard mixes her a magical potion,

while I wish I could take her swimming in the ocean.

The villagers think they have me trapped permanently,

but they don’t know you can’t keep a dragon for eternity.
