Soul

Soul

A Poem by Ciprian Neagoe

A true man values self control.
It's what separates him from beasts
that walk on two legs or four.
He values commitments,
promises and more.
He values his soul.
It is the rod he uses to measure the world,
the coat that protects him from the cold.

Yet you have taken that from him.
All done on a whim,
with a sad smile, a spirit still sore,
A mask you wore to hide a scar,
a look so innocent and wounded.
Why do you have to be so far...
His thoughts, were his no more.
