Away

Away

A Poem by Alex Vandool

They put me in a yellow room

With red on the ceiling

White painted floor

Black-bricked window

No way out

They made me do nothing

For twenty years

Brain washing with new doctrine

Screen scream

Scream screen

They changed the world

Over your shoulder

As they flooded you with stimuli

Austerity

Stimulus

Similar days and night

They switched the rules

Divide and conquered

Enslaved the world

Again

Again

They left us in a dark place

Blocked rebel souls

Contrived new ways

To keep us far below

Below

They hemmed us in

But woke us up

You feel controlled

But feel

We feel once more

They have you all addicted

Back bending

Head look down

It won't be easy

To break free

Break out

Break up

Now use it all against them

Swing the chains they put on you

A universal spirit's growing

A groundswell

To wash their hate away

I am trying to figure out who these lovely people are. Sounds like the secret police of some totalitarian state. Does not sound like they are very much into due process.

Maybe they're illusions, or ghosts, or machines. Their due process would be a mixture of Kafka, Huxl.. read more
