Why not

Why not

A Poem by Alex Vandool

So what's the point if all you've given up's belief

Survival?

Entertainment?

Entitlement?

Look, we've been through so much of your anti-natural religion

And your old sacrifices disgust

Your miracles so often feed on flesh

Before you mortify your self

Your celib vow is worse than worthless

It goes against a true commandment

Destroys our holy souls

Division and corruption are your bitter habits

Your vengeful gods lurk in polluted imaginings

In your broken image their eternal hate reflects

Hell you build and struggle to make solid

Your lasting gift to drag all down

And science is the dullest child of worship

On bloodied knees you breathe your demon

The same that holds dead, dry atheist out of their depth

That battered coin is slow and filthy

Both sides laughably absurd

The reds, their heads in dour indulgence

At least our doors are open to a better world
